OAK HILL ACADEMY CELEBRATES ‘OUTSTANDING’ OFSTED REPORT

Staff and students at Oak Hill Academy in Feltham are celebrating the upgrading of the school by Ofsted from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’ following a recent inspection.

The school, which is operated by Aspirations Academies Trust, was judged to offer ‘an excellent standard of education.’ ‘Pupils,’ it said, ‘feel safe and confident to be themselves. Staff are aspirational for pupils’ achievement. They teach pupils to develop highly effective learning behaviours.’

Executive Principal Aine Linney, is proud of the report:
“We are so proud that the ambition we have for every pupil at Oak Hill and the hard work of our excellent staff has been recognised by Ofsted in this report. Our curriculum delivers progress, achievement and above national attainment at the end of KS2 year after year and to have this quality assured by Ofsted, during our section 5 inspection is very rewarding.”

The report recognised the school’s ‘precisely designed curriculum’ and that the children ‘achieve highly at the end of Year 6 and are very well prepared for their move to secondary school.’ It highlighted the wider programme of opportunities citing ‘a range of outings that give them a rich set of experiences,’ and that ‘pupils participate in a wide range of clubs such as drama, gardening, sports and a rock band.’

The school’s leadership was praised for its delivery of the curriculum. It noted that ‘teachers design and adapt activities for pupils skilfully. This helps to deepen pupils’ subject-specific understanding across the curriculum. Staff… make sure that pupils produce work of a consistently high standard.’

Associate Principal Laura Taylor added, “I am so incredibly proud of what the Oak Hill family has achieved. Every day, staff work exceedingly hard to provide the best education, pastoral support and encouragement for all children and families. I am delighted that this has been recognised by Ofsted. We shall continue to drive high standards of excellence for the futures of our children.”

There was high praise for the behaviour and attitudes of pupils, with the report noting: ‘Pupils behave impeccably well in lessons. High levels of respect permeate through everything pupils do…Pupils actively make their school a great place to learn.’

Dr Jeffery Quaye OBE, National Director of Education, Standards, and Quality at Aspirations Academies Trust said, “I am delighted and so proud that Ofsted has recognised the outstanding education that the staff consistently provide to our pupils. The teachers and leaders are relentless about high standards and work tirelessly so that all pupils flourish in their learning. I congratulate the staff, pupils, and members of the Oak Hill family for such an excellent report, with the school justifiably graded as outstanding in all areas. I would like to pay tribute to Laura Taylor, Associate Principal, and Aine Linney, Executive Principal, for their exceptional leadership of the school.”
