Year 5’s Reading Group Trip to Waterstones

To mark the start of our inter-academy reading workshop with Rivers Academy, our Year 5 Reading Group went on an exciting trip to Waterstones to choose and buy the book they want to read with their secondary reading buddy! The children had an exciting talk about how the bookshop functions and then they had time to explore all the exciting books on offer, read the blurbs of books that caught their eye, flick through a wide range of fiction and nonfiction books before choosing the book they wanted! They were so keen to start reading they spent the bus journey home with their noses in their new books! Waterstones were so impressed with their behaviour they even gave us a few free books as a special treat- thank you Waterstones for such a fun morning.
